They say if you’re going to dream, dream big. Six Reasons took that and ran with it, as he continues to build on his recent success. Don’t be confused though, he isn’t one of those artists who doesn’t appreciate what he has and where he has come from. The Watts product has come from humble environments, but he wouldn’t change a thing about his path because it has made him who he is.

“It’s like dreaming with your eyes open man, it’s been a long time and a long long ride. So to just kind of see your dream manifest into something like this after years of hard work. A lot of people think artist come out of the blue, like they just pop on the scene. But its really about the hard work they putting in for the ten, eleven, twelve years plus. “

His new single featuring West coast legend, Too Short, is doing very well and the fans are really starting to embrace him. To Six reasons though that isn’t the most important aspect of his rise to stardom.

“The single doing good, and my buzz is up there but I’m more so happy—me being happy for my individual success, but I’m more happy because it was a team effort. So I’m happy that my team is getting a majority of the accolades because I have a wonderful team and I been doing this shit for a long time. And it took me a long time to realize its not about who is the best individually its about who has the best team. Once I surrounded myself with a good team I started to see my career reach these new plateaus. “

One thing you can never take away from Six Reasons is his love for hip-hop, and for what he does. He is one of the few artists that present authenticity along with craftsmanship in his music. Everything that Six Reasons does has a deep meaning that can be appreciated by true hip-hop fans. For example most fans might not know the real meaning behind his last project “Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200,” which was hosted by DJ Skee.

“When your playing monopoly a lot of people don’t want to land on boardwalk. You know playing monopoly people try to skate past boardwalk. Boardwalk is the most expensive property on the monopoly board. So a lot of people skate past boardwalk just to collect their $200 dollars. You know life is kind of like that that. But I rap for just the people that don’t want to skate past boardwalk, we want to own that. We want to own boardwalk, and you know we are taking chances and we are taking risk and sometimes that chance or risk you take you are going to hear do not pass go, do not collect $200 go directly to jail. But the fear of not taking the risk while taking the chance, the fear of not doing it overpowers the fear of hearing do not pass go, do not collect $200. “

Even the name Six Reasons has a deeper meaning that some may not have known. The name comes form the six basic reasons mankind do some of the things they do. Those six reasons are money, power, respect, faith, fear, and love.

“You know how the world sits on axis, it makes the world turn 360 degrees, well my name represents the moral axis that man sits on.”

Six Reasons can never take full credit for everything that is happening right now though as he gives a ton of credit to the man above.

“90% of this whole theme that makes me, me, 90% of Six Reasons is God given. You know I never take credit because this was something that was in me before I knew it was in me. I was born with this talent and some insight I learned along the way, but it was God given, given to me through God.”

Six Reasons has maintained his integrity and has took a path some rappers may have took a short cut on. He decided that he would do things his way, and get people to notice him in the light that he wanted them to see him in. Songs like “Fat Lady” really embody the integrity and authenticity that he represents, as he vented about the rappers that are giving off a false perception of who they are through music.

“A lot of people like to say how hot they are, but the streets will let you know if you’re hot or you’re not hot. Just put your music out there and do your things. So that’s kind of what we did, put the muscle behind it, put the hustle behind it and people – they accepted it and received it.”

Starting to write music at the age of seven, all of these events in his life make Six Reasons who he is. From growing up listening to Too Short, and having to sneak to listen to his music because it was looked down upon at the time to opening up for Slick Rick with only ten people in the crowd, which proves he has been doing this for a while. Also being form Watts, California, which is one of the toughest, cutthroat neighborhoods in the world is important. Watts in Six’s words is “its own little island.” This is due to the fact that there are four different housing projects all within small quarters from each other. Watts has made Six Reasons who he is as an artist, but more importantly the person that you see today. He loves it, and will never have anything bad to say about the area or the people living there because they both contributed to his growth as a person

“Watts, California I like to call it a small island because it kind of stands on its own…But we are taught to survive, that’s what every last one of us raised over there embodies. That’s what Watts stands for, W-A-T-T-S, we are taught to survive.”

But now this same Watts, California representative is getting cosigns from some of the biggest names in the game including 50 Cent, G-Unit, and Busta Rhymes. These OG’s have given him the knowledge that he needed to succeed in this rap game.

“Anytime I was around a legend or someone that was higher up in their career than I, I never stuck my hand out. Rather than stick my hand out, I just opened my ears up. “

What you can expect next from Six Reasons is his next project 80’s Baby, a reality show, and just more material for his fans to help hold them over until the mixtape is released.

Six Reasons had a message as to why he doesn’t do a bunch of collaborations with different artists, and why he operates in this hip-hop game the way he does.
