Too add some more spice to the much talked about halftime performance, both NFL and NBC have issued separate apologies in regards to M.I.A’s gesture. During her camera time M.I.A was caught delivering the middle finger to the line, “I don’t give a shit” of which she didn’t fully pronounce the word “shit.”
NBC issued a statement to the Hollywood Reporter stating, “The NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show…Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers.”
In a separate but equally apologetic statement, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy says, “There was a failure in NBC’s delay system… The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologize to our fans.” McCarthy also points out M.I.A. saved the gesture for air time and did not do it during dress rehearsals for the show.
