One of the most exciting quartets in Hip-Hop today is currently making big waves surrounding their recent alignment with Interscope Records. While I saw this coming (read our feature on Kendrick in this months issue) it is a positive move for the four. Black Hippy otherwise known as Jay Rock, Ab- Soul, Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q will now make there move from indie to major in a joint effort backed by Top Dawg Entertainment.
According to the Fader, Kendrick Lamar’s forthcoming, still-untitled album will be released jointly by Top Dawg, Aftermath and Interscope. Future releases by Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock will be released jointly by Top Dawg and Interscope. More details on the deal, from Tiffith, are coming soon.
Dr. Dre has taken a big liking to a young Kendrick Lamar and this years upcoming SXSW has Schoolboy performing on the Shady 2.0 stage. Lookout for more from Top Dawg Entertainment in the near future. Congrats on the move next up is Ab-Soul, mark my words!
