The volatile New York enviroment proved to be overwelming for Mike D’antoni, as it was just announced by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, that he has resigned as head coach of the New York Knicks effective immediately. D’antoni, who has had successful seasons in Phoenix with his ‘Run & Gun’ offense which led the Knicks to pry him from the Suns just 4 years ago, has resigned amidst allegations that the coach would not last the week. All of this is coming after a disappointing season in which expectations were high for the now loaded New York Knicks team. All in all, this just seems like a desperation move by the Knicks organization for their past misdoings when they gutted their successful and burgeoning team in the trade for Carmelo Anthony. Now that they have their scapegoat, Mike Woodson assumes the helm and inherits a team still wtih lots of question marks.
