One of the nicest MCs to ever touch the mic, Keith Elam aka Guru of the legendary duo GangStarr, succumbed to cancer on this date two years ago.

The Brooklyn via Boston representative was able to balance conscious lyrics with natural mic skill and evolved into an icon among emcees while making history alongside DJ premier for 25 years. Besides his GangStarr legacy, Guru managed to establish himself individually on an international level with his “Jazzamatazz” influence and was able to cultivate careers along the way. Artists like Jeru The Damaja, MC Solaar of France, N’Dea Davenport, and others will acknowledge Mr. Baldhead Slick as the catalyst of their careers. His words of wisdom propelled by his deep voice are etched in the minds of Hip Hop heads around the globe and will forever be remembered. R.I.P. Guru.
