As expected the NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat have been nothing short of amazing.  The two teams have been battling it out and creating amazing highlight reels.  Last night the Heat stole homecourt from the Thunder and equaled the series 1-1 but not without controversy.  In the final seconds of the game with the Thunder down two, Kevin Durant drove to the basket and missed the shot.  He was clearly fouled by Lebron James but no foul was called.  The Thunder in turn had no choice but to foul James with seven seconds left.  He made his foul shots and solidified the win for the Heat.  Cue the screams of foul play *pun intended*.

I agree Lebron’s foul on Durant was clear as day but may I turn your attention to the fact that Durant wasn’t supposed to be in the game in the first place?  Durant played with five fouls for majority of the 4th quarter but a key moment was when there was about 3 minutes left.  Shane Battier was hit with a blocking foul but it should have been a charge on Durant fouling him out.  If you want to argue it as a no call on either side then subtract two points from the score and the final play still becomes pointless. And if you’re going to vehemently scream the Heat have a sixth man in the refs then you have to be consistent and notice all the missed calls on both sides.  My argument is simply its all semantics we can dissect each call and say this or that “would’ve” happened but we really don’t know.  Durant could have missed his freethrows he was 4/6, or he could have made them and tied the game and still lost with Miami getting the final possession.  We just don’t know, let’s just hope the refs get it together and enjoy the rest of the series its really one of the best we’ve seen in quite some time.
