This weekend, the legendary “Funky Man” Lord Finesse will host the Annual DMC NYC Regional DJ Battle and Battle for US Supremacy at Le Poisson Rouge. DJs will have the chance to rep the Rotten Apple in the DMC US Finals on August 4. The winner of the battle for US Supremacy will go on to rep the nation in the Battle For World Supremacy in London on September 27.
The DITC general will host alongside DJs Eddie Def and DJ Cue. DMC, which stands for “Disco Mix Club”, has had these turntablist competitions and been a staple in Hip Hop culture for close to three decades. One of this year’s sponsors is Serato, which is a sign of the times, being that at one time these competitions were vinyl only.
