The Source Magazine had the opportunity to attend the NY Premiere of ‘Shut Up and Play The Hits,’ which is being distributed by Oscilloscope Laboratories (the independent film distribution company started by Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch and former THINKFilm executive David Fenkel). The rock documentary will play in theaters for one night only on July 18th. The film chronicles the final months of the dance-punk rock band LCD Soundsystem, which was fronted by songwriter and producer James Murphy. Aziz Ansari and John Leguizamo are some of the notables that we spotted at the premiere, which was hosted by the Peggy Siegal Company.

The after-party was held at Lilium at the W Union Square. The DJ was Matt Cash who was handpicked by James Murphy. At midnight Tim Sweeney took over, also picked by James.
