After a screening of “Broken City” director Allen Hughes along with co-stars Mark Wahlberg and Jeffrey Wright attended a press conference to discuss the film. All three were glad to share their thoughts on the film.

When we asked what Wahlberg what his favorite moment was, he said, “There were many funny moments. There was a night where Jeffrey and I got to do a scene with Barry Pepper. And I got to kick the sh*t out of Barry. At one moment he turns to me and says, “It think you bruised my larynx.” I said “Well, we’re going to do it again and again.” We shot literally the night, we start 6:30 in the evening and finished at 9:30 in the morning. But Barry was a trooper.”

He also added “And the other moment was when Allen and I were sitting there, and we’re the same age, we’re making this movie and we’re halfway through the movie, there’s no studio no one telling us what to do. We are literally here making our own movie doing what we want to do, how we want to do it. And that in itself is a miracle in my opinion, it doesn’t happen that often.”

The conference also discussed some serious topics such as how the corruption in the film relates to actual cities in America. When discussing Rahm Emanuel, the mayor of Chicago and Mark Wahlberg’s personal friend, Wahlberg said, “I’ve known him socially through his brother. But to see him in office and to hear his policies firsthand in a very unfiltered way, it’s just very impressive. I think if every city had a mayor like Rahm, we’d be much better off. I mean, obviously every city and state has dealt with it but, nobody more than Chicago, oh my gosh.”

Wahlberg’s past music career also came up when he was asked about his recent sighting with Diddy. When he was asked whether or not he was coming back to music, his response was, “No music in my future. We do have a bunch of other things we’re working on. He’s actively pursuing an acting career in both film and television. We have some other business interests together. But we’ve been friends for a long time, we started out around the same time. Gosh, I met him when he was still at Uptown Records, working for Andre Harrell as an intern. We’ve known each other forever but no, you won’t see me doing a record anytime soon.”

“Broken City” is now playing.
