Anonymous strikes again?

Internet hackers are at it again; this time many celebrity and public officials have been the targets of Internet hackers.  A website that is believed to have originated in Russia posted information varying from credit card reports, social security numbers, addresses, confidential information, and other sensitive information on the site.

The list of people who were hacked include; Jay-Z, Beyonce, Ashton Kutcher, Paris Hilton, Mel Gibson, Britney Spears, Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck, Vice President Joe Biden, former U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Rodham Clinton, and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.

L.A Police Chief Charlie Beck who had been involved in the Christopher Dorner case, spoke to the L.A. Times about the hack,

“We’ll take steps to find out who did this, and if they’re within the boundaries of the United States, we’ll prosecute them.”

One possibility of who could be responsible for this hack is hacker group Anonymous. Christopher Dorner had praised the work of Anonymous in an on-line manifesto, while Dorner also simultaneously received praise from the group as well.
