Ray Manzarek, founding member of the legendary rock group The Doors sadly passed away yesterday at the age of 70. The news was a huge shock for American pop culture and enthusiasts of the band. The Doors was a hugely popular group in the 1960’s and the beginning of the 1970’s with their Psychedelic style and acid rock tunes. The band has sold over 100 million records worldwide and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. The groups success and popularity has maintained throughout all this years, and their music continues to live American culture.
If your not familiar with the rock band, we are sure that you’ve heard their music sampled before by one of you favorite hip hop artist. For instance, Jay-Z’s famous diss record “Takeover” was sampled from The Door’s “Five To One” single. We all know what happened after that, so if it wasn’t for Kanye sampling The Doors record, we would’ve probably never heard one of the best beef records on wax.
