How upset was Melissa Lawrence on this day? So upset that she threw a rock at a camera man, grabbed a metal bat, then ordered her pitbulls to attack ABC6 Reporter, Abbey Niezgoda.
While following up on a shooting that happened during a kindergarten graduation party at Lawrence’s home where Lawrence’s 16-year-old daughter was shot by a neighbor, Neizgoda’s job took a turn. After she requested comment on the teenage shooter turning himself in, Lawrence became enraged and began attacking the reporter and her cameraman and sent her pitbulls after them, leaving Neizgoda with a bite on her forearm.
Providence police arrested Lawrence and charged her with two counts of felony assault. Animal control also tried to locate the dogs, but they were gone. She’ll face 30 days in prison if she doesn’t turn the dogs in for a mandatory 10-day quarantine.
Lawrence’s daughter survived the shooting. The reporter and cameraman are okay.
