Brazil shows out in Confed Cup championship

It wasn’t the European Championships and it wasn’t the World Cup, but this still hurt Spain. Brazil proved their critics and the FIFA World rankings wrong yesterday when they defeated Spain 3-0. Brazil who is currently ranked 22nd in the world took down the #1 team in the world in spectacular fashion.

Brazil’s Fred opened up the scoring in the 2nd minute of the game and ever since that Spain looked flustered. Brazil chased the ball and tackled like a pack of mad dogs. Spain who usually dominates their opponents with passing couldn’t get anything going in the midfield. Neymar tacked on a goal of his own while Fred put the nail in the coffin in the 47th minute to make it 3-0.

This young Brazil team fired on all cylinders yesterday ultimately showing their maturity as a unit. Now the world will await this potential rematch in the upcoming World Cup next summer.

Neymar would go on to be the player of the tournament collecting the Golden Ball while Spain’s Fernando Torres would collect the Golden Boot (leading scorer).
