MTV “Video Music Awards” has just released their nominees, and a new location for this years 30th annual show.
Set to take place in Brooklyn,NY at the Barclays Center, Justin Timberlake, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead the nominations in the VMA’s. Bruno Mars, P!nk, Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Drake, Calvin Harris, Kendrick Lamar, Capital Cities, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Weeknd, Thirty Seconds to Mars and fun are set to receive multiple nominations this year.
Taking place at the Barclays Center for the first time in the history of the VMA’s, this will be more historic than any other VMA that has taken place thus far.
At 8:00am this morning the VMA’s unveiled their “Video of the year” via @MTV Instagram and Vine, being the first award show to use these social media websites to announce nominations. The VMA’s is set to air August 25th at 9pm ET/PT. You can now begin to vote on general categories for the VMA’s at vma.mtv.com.
Hip-Hop’s presence is strong. For Best Hip-Hop Video, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton have been nominated for their video “Can’t hold us.” Drake has been nominated for his hit “Started from the bottom.” Kendrick Lamar is nominated for his “Swimming Pools” video. A$AP Rocky is up for his “F**kin Problems” featuring Drake, 2 Chainz, and Kendrick Lamar. And the last nominee for this category is J. Cole feat. Miguel for “Power trip.”
