On October 24, 2013, The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) hosted the second installment of its 5th annual ASCAP Presents… Women Behind the Music series in New York at the popular nightclub Lexicon sponsored by Malibu Red, The New Nasty, Uber Cars, Miss Jessie and Sister 2 Sister Magazine.

The series is designed to encourage and recognize women in the music community,highlighting not only women songwriters and artists but also women working in all facets of the business, including managers, attorneys, label executives and music publishers. The last installment of this amazing series will take place in Atlanta, GA on October 29th. Each of the three events will feature three honorees and a moderator. New York honorees included: Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Stacy Barthe, CEO of Phase Too Management Inc. Tina Davis, and VP/Managing Partner of MBK Management Jeanine McLean. Each of these women was presented with a special memento in recognition of their contributions to music. The evening was moderated by Vice President of Rhythm & Soul Membership Nicole George-Middleton, and featured special performances by K. Michelle and Sevyn Streeter. The first installment of this year’s series held in Los Angeles honored Grammy award winning recording artists Melanie Fiona and LeToya Luckett, songwriter Andrea Martin and Title 9 Productions Founder and CEO Carmen Murray.
