The second annual Global Spin Awards was held last night at the New York Times Center in Manhattan, NY. The star-studded event celebrated and honored some of the most talented DJ’s across the country and worldwide.
Sponsored by Power Moves Inc and Diddy‘s favorite drink of choice, Ciroc, the red carpet would see the likes of Mack Wilds, Joe Budden, Sean Paul, Tank, Swizz Beats and other big artist pose for the several media publications in attendance and their flashing cameras. But it was all about DJ’s last night, and from the old school Disc Jockey to the new school DJ, the red carpet was the place where the new would meet the old, and vice verse , and thank them for keeping the art form of DJing alive.
The event would kick off with Fools Gold DJ A Trak opening up the award show with a dope set that would display the reason why he’s considered a huge name between DJ’s nowadays. The biggest surprise of the night would come right after with the Top Dawg of Hip-Hop at the moment, Kendrick Lamar coming out to present the Best Online/Satellite DJ of the Year Award, which would go to DJ Drama.
At this years Global Spin Awards DJ Kid Capri and Marly Marl were both recognized for their contributions in music and the DJ industry. Kid Capri would be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award and Marly Marl would be presented with the Legendary DJ Award.
Plenty of great Hip-Hop moments were celebrated last night at the GSA’s and the best thing of all, is that we can only imagine how huge the 2014 Awards will be! Congratulations to all the winners and nominees of last night and THANK YOU for what you do for the culture.
