’12 Years A Slave’ & ‘Fruitvale Station’ Garner Several Independent Spirit Award Nominations

The nominations for the 2014 Independent Spirit Awards were announced on Tuesday, Nov. 26. “12 Years a Slave” was in front of the pack with 7 nominations. Actresses Octavia Spencer and Paula Patton were on hand at the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards Nominations Press Conference at W Hollywood to help announce the nominees. 

Director Steve McQueen’s “12 Years A Slave,” was nominated for Best Feature, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor & Actress and Cinematography. “Fruitvale Station” was nominated for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best First Feature.

Other features that we covered this past year including “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete,” “Blue Caprice,” & “Una Noche,” were also nominated.
