Atlanta is set to add a new player to their long list of skilled rappers to their roster. K Camp has already got the ATL down packed. Recently, the young rapper been slowly making his way on to the scene with his latest release In Due Time. Hosted by DJ Drama, the tape strictly embraces Camp’s skills on tracks like “Turn Up The Night” & “Money Baby”.

Other hits with the likes of G.O.O.D Music’s CyHi Da Prynce and production from Sonny Digital and Big Fruit make the project the foundation of what seems like a promising career. Now with the remix to “Cut Her Off” with 2 Chainz under his belt, 2014 is looking to be a successful time for K Camp. “I’m just trying to go across the nation just to build up my fan base and get this music out to everybody.”

Check out what he has to say about his career thus far.

The Source: Congratulations on the mixtape, In Due Time. In retrospect, I feel like it’s a plateau for your career. Did you get to work with DJ Drama personally or did he just host the tape?

K Camp: We linked up before it dropped to go over the format. Then we sent it out.

As a new artist, how was that? DJ Drama has been around for a minute. How does it feel to get your jumpstart with him?

It feels good. It feels like the hard work I been putting in for years finally came out. Everybody can’t get no Drama tape. If they do, he ain’t gonna put his all in it if he don’t fuck with it. So I feel blessed that I got that.

What other producers did you work with?

I got my in-house producer Big Fruit that produced half the tape. I had Sonny Digital, and cat named Young Ex, but Fruit did a majority of the production on that project.

You got the remix to “Cut Her Off” with 2 Chainz on the track. How did that happen?

He sent me the verse while I was in LA. At first I wanted “Cut Her Off” just to be me, you know what I’m sayin? I wanted the first single I came out with just to be me. But you can’t turn 2 Chainz down, that would be stupid.

I can understand you being connected to all of your music but which one off the tape stood out to you the most?

I’d have to say the Intro. I really opened up and spoke the truth more than my other records.

When you thought of the title for the tape, what made you decide on In Due Time?

The original cover was me as baby playing the piano. I posted that up months ago on Instagram when I knew the project was coming out. But Drama said it wasn’t street enough. So we just ditched that and we put up what the cover is now. But really the inspiration was like I knew this shit was gonna happen but it would happen in due time. I was supposed to make this shit for my campaign. Knowing I put out this good ass music and I’ve been doing it for so long, I knew it was gonna pop off. That’s why I wanted to named the project In Due Time.

What’s your ultimate goal for 2014?

My ultimate goal for 2014 is to take this shit over! Everybody that was sleeping is gonna wake the fuck up and know who the hell K. Camp is. They wont’ have a choice but to hear K. Camp on everything.
