Coursera offers free online classes. The company was founded by computer science professors Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller from Stanford University. Top universities like Yale, Johns Hopkins, and Columbia offer online classes taught by renowned professors at no cost to you. You can even drop the class right in the middle and it won’t cost you a thing.

Coursera’s mission is very simple, to teach millions of people around the world for free and totally transform how universities teach their students. The website provides free courses in Humanities, Medicine, Biology, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Business, Computer Science, and many others.

Coursera endeavor are likely to expand worldwide since Broadband’s access allows even the poor and middle-income countries access. For years the face-to-face lecture has been in use. It consumes hours of class time at even the best universities and remains very costly. The lecture hall might be suitable for attending lectures but the greater the number of students in the room, the lesser the chance for one on one interaction. Online education may offer huge advantages without the costly burdens associated with a standard college level education.

Coursera courses are 6 to 10 weeks long, with an hour or two of videos. In addition to quizzes, they feature weekly exercises, ranging from problem sets to design projects or essays.

I’ve already enrolled in the following course: analysis of algorithms, constitutional law, and the age of sustainable development. These course seem very interesting and after paying thousand of dollars on my education, I’ve decided I deserved a few for free!!
