Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman tipped a Colin Kaepernick pass intended for Michael Crabtree and instead it ended up in the arms of Malcolm Smith. The play secured the Seattle win and sent them to the Super Bowl. Â Following the incredible play and great win, Sherman was interviewed by ESPN’s Erin Andrews and unleashed a tirade against Crabtree that captured everyone’s attention.
Sherman is known is for being outspoken but the epic rant centered around 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree was more over the top than usual. Â So why was Sherman upset?
After Sherman told reporters postgame about a vague remark Crabtree made during the offseason, the cornerback opened up to NFL Media columnist Michael Silver:
“Sherman explained that he was angered by something Crabtree had said to him while the two were socializing with other players (including then-49ers receiver Kyle Williams, now with the Kansas City Chiefs) at a function associated with Fitzgerald’s charity softball game in Scottsdale, Ariz., last April,” Silver wrote. “Sherman wouldn’t share specifics, saying only that ‘(Crabtree) said something to me, and I told him I’d make him pay for it on the field.'”
According to Sherman’s older brother, Branton, Sherman went to shake Crabtree’s hand, and Crabtree tried to start a fight.  While the whole story hasn’t been released Sherman made it clear “he knows I’m going to be tough on him (Crabtree) for the rest of his career.”
I guess this is a rivalry we can continue to look forward to.
