Rap Genius has skyrocketed to become one of the most popular lyric websites and apparently the site’s growing popularity hasn’t gone unnoticed. The founders of Rap Genius recently announced that the site has entered into a licensing arrangement with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG).
Pretty big move considering UMPG is one of the leading music publishing companies in the world.
Rap Genius founder Ilan Zechory had this to say of the new deal:
“We love UMPG! They have a truly incredible stable of writers – we will lend them a wheelbarrow for the Grammys they are about to win! Rap Genius lets UMPG’s writers connect with their most obsessed fans, and we couldn’t be more excited about solidifying this partnership.”
