Brutal, record-breaking cold descended on the New York area last night, but despite the low temperatures and awful street conditions a crowded SOB’s was in hand for Hot 97’s Who’s Next Live featuring Ty Dolla $ign & Black Cobain.

Shauni Kulture would get things cracking by introducing the first act of the night, the Brooklyn rapper, Gliffics, who was accompanied by his drummer Rusty Beatzz and singer, Lenny Harold. Tijon, from New Jersey would follow up with his unique blend of rock/rap.

Shortly after, Peter Rosenberg introduces his fellow DMV comrade, Black Cobain, to the New York crowd. Dressed in all black, Cobain would prove why he’s a Hot 97 Who’s Next pick and why he’s got bars for days. The VA rapper closed out with the tracks “Turn Up” and “Bill of Rights” off his latest project Perfect Contradiction.

Headliner Ty Dolla $ign hit the stage at 11:30 PM EST. and set things off with the melodic “My Cabana,” a song from his very first Beach House mixtape. He would then transition into the YG record “Toot It and Boot It.” Ty would then treat fans by performing a brand new record off that Beach House EP, the Young Chop-produced, “Familiar.” Despite the track being new, fans in attendance were already vibing to the hard-hitting record, and even a few could be seen reciting the lyrics Dolla Sign’s brand new cut. Those smoking in the venue enjoyed a special moment with Ty as the LA singer dedicated “Irie” to those blowing it down with no worries. The Taylor Gang member would conclude his set by performing his mega-smash hit “Paranoid” while taking a fat stash out of his pocket and making it rain on the folks at SOB’s. Ty would thank the crowd for coming out and salute them for making his Beach House EP a #2 a on iTunes.
