Wednesday (1/22/2014) Vice Media‘s Noisey debuted the first episode of its long awaited and talked about documentary “Chiraq” highlighting Chicago’s Drill Music scene and the violence associated with it.  The eighteen minute episode is the first of eight clips that will cover different aspects and individuals within Chicago.  The idea and execution seems similar to the recently released World Star Hip Hop documentary “The Field”, but what might set this one apart is the scope.

The first episode begins with Vice arriving in Chicago to speak with Chief Keef and being informed he has just been sent to juvenile detention; an event that happened about a year ago.  Although they dont meet up with him in the first episode the narrative seems to be focused around Keef and I would assume the episodes may build up until we finally get the chance to meet the “Almighty So”.  Although “The Field” couldn’t manage to get cool Keith on camera it seems from the opening montage  that Noisey does eventually catchup with him.   In addition to Lil Durk & Young Chop who both make a decent sized appearance in the first episode we also see that Fredo Santana, King Louie, Lil Reece, G Herbo (Lil Herb) and others will pop up in future episodes.
