Johansson had been criticized by the group and others for her association with SodaStream, an Israeli company with a factory in a settlement in the Palestinian West Bank. Oxfam opposes trade from settlements, considered illegal under international law.

A commercial for SodaStream featuring the starlet was banned from the Super Bowl, not because of the controversy over settlements, but because Johansson calls out the company’s competitors, Coke and Pepsi, by name.
