Its that time of year again, canine lovers rejoice; when the our furry best friends take  center stage. That’s right the Westminster Kennel Club is back in town, for its impressive 138 annual addition. This year, the club is expecting its biggest crowd since 1990; with dogs coming from all 50 states and over 127 different countries—including: Japan, Finland, and Thailand—this event is shaping up to be massive.

Judges are expecting to see over 2,845 different breeds once the competition is finished, three of which are debuting this year. Chinook, the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno, and the Rat Terrier are all making their first appearances, and they will go against some stiff established competition.

First the dogs compete for the crown in different categories, like “sporting hound”, “working dog”, and “toy”. Later, those who impress will be invited to Madison Square Garden, where the champion will be announced. Then those that win will compete for the “Best in Show”, which is highly coveted. Good luck to all of our four legged friends competing, you can check it out today and tomorrow.
