SCHOOLBOY AND JAY ROCK KILL THEIR VERSES, “I JUST WANNA PARTY” SHOULD BE THE NEXT SINGLE
It’s a big deal for ScHoolboy Q–a member of the Hoover Crip street gang–and YG, a known Tree Top Piru member to do a song together. Gang violence has been a staple in Los Angeles for as long, if not longer, than the Lakers, and with the music scene continuing to bubble in California, artists from rival gangs are bound to bump into one another. YG, Schoolboy Q & Jay Rock–who himself was affiliated with a Blood gang before he began rapping–come together on a song that aims to put affiliations and street politics aside to do just what the title suggests, and the formula works perfectly. ScHoolboy Q and Jay Rock do what they do best, complimenting YG’s equally well executed verse perfectly, and after the session, Sickamore, YG’s assistant, asked what the next single should be, to which most responded “I Just Wanna Party”. Also, if there was a song that should be played at the highest volume possible, it should be this one.
