45 Annual NAACP Image Awards-The Source The 45th Annunal NAACP Image Awards were held at Pasadena Civil Auditorium in California last night and was hosted by Anthony Anderson. Before the first award was presented he made the announcement that the award show is going to continue to air on TV One for the next five years.

Known for his humor, Anderson started the show by stating, “We started from the bottom from slavery and now we made it to the top.”  There were no performances on the show except for the moving tribute to Nelson Mandela from Stevie Wonder.

2013 was dubbed the year of Black Renaissance movies as Mandela: A Long Walk Home, 12 Years A Slave, Fruitvale Station and Lee Daniel’s The Butler were all nominated for this year’s awards.

For the first time, a new award was presented NAACP Hall Of Fame Award that is presented to people in color that work in media,TV and film and they paid tribute to those who we lost last year like Paul Walker, Amiri Bakara and many others.
