Republican Gov. Jan Brewer is facing intense pressure due to state senators voting for a bill allowing religious business owners to refuse service to gays and lesbians. The Arizona Legislature passed the bill last week and opposition has been growing each day. Critics are calling the bill discriminatory and consider it embarrassing to the state.

Approximately 350 people participated in a peaceful protest outside the Arizona Capitol on Monday. Protestors listened to speeches and many held up signs opposing the bill as well. Opponents are arguing the bill is permission to discriminate against gays. Republicans, on the other hand, say the bill is protecting religious freedom. Brewer has five business days to sign or veto the bill.
