With a tribal beat from the depths of the Earth’s core, courtesy of Odd Couple, Alex Wiley and Mick Jenkins give their thoughts on decisions they’ve made since entering the Rap game. No girl or industry person is going to stop the Chicago artists from pursuing their dreams and leaving a mark on history.

This single serves as the first single off of Wiley’s upcoming Village Party project. He had this to say about the project:

“It’s a way more honest and personal project. I want people to feel like they really know me when they listen to something. People are listening to me now from all over the country, and when I visit their city, I want it to feel like a friend coming into town. On a basic level, I’m better at rapping and also talking about experiences. Village Party is introspective but with a different bounce. It’s eloquent.”

“Own Man” is the second collaboration between Wiley and Jenkins in the last month and it will most likely not be the last. You can catch Wiley on tour with our Unsigned Hype alumnus, KR, in a town near you.
