If it’s one thing New Yorkers love doing from time to time it’s dancing in the streets. We love to express ourselves and dancing has allowed us to do this since the dawn of time. Nothing could be more “tribal”. We use it to express love, anger, sadness, and a myriad of other emotions; more importantly we use it to pay homage. Jason Lam has chosen to do just that through his latest effort called “Street Dance Project”. He has put together a photo collection that chronicles how street dance has influenced him over the years and can be viewed at http://streetdanceproject.com/.
Jason says, “The dance scene here has been really good to me. I want to give back and this is the only way I know how, through photographs. This is my way of returning the love.” He definitely captures the mood of the time in each image. One easily feels the “beat” and automatically starts reminiscing of good times past of house parties, breakdance battles, or just plain old dancing in the streets.
