With her new single “Jerk Ribs” embracing live instruments and a somewhat toned down sound Kelis is back from her 4 year hiatus to bring us her new album Food. Having her album entirely produced by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek, Kelis has also made a major decision signing to UK Based independent label Ninja Tune. Kelis has always been more of an overseas dance/pop artist so it is no surprise where her label is based but one thing that may surprise us is the tone of her new music. Professional chef and former culinary student at Le Cordon Bleu Kelis does not hide her obsession with food with song titles such as ‘Fish Fry’, ‘Cobbler’ and ‘Biscuits ‘n’ Gravy’. ‘Jerk Ribs’ couldn’t have been any more of a perfect way to bring in a new album leaving us hungry for more.
