Knicks, Nets, Melo, Joe Johnson, MSGOh what a ride it’s been for the Knicks this season. After all the embarrassing losses to start the season, to the hiring of the Zen Master himself Phil Jackson as President of Basketball Operations, the Knicks somehow still have a chance to make the playoffs. Knicks fans have been going through it as their team has gone through the most ups and downs this season. The Brooklyn Nets were up next for the Knicks and Brooklyn took a beating at MSG last night

JR Smith and Carmelo Anthony led the way for the Knicks as they routed the Nets 110-81. This game means a lot more to the Knicks who are fighting for the final playoff spot in the East. The Knicks picked up their third straight victory last night and are tied with the Atlanta Hawks for the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. Smith finished the game with 24 points and eight rebounds, and Anthony added 23 points and 10 rebounds.

The Nets were on a three game winning streak of their own before the loss last night. They are also coming off of a back to back after taking down the Rockets on Tuesday night in Brooklyn, so if there were an excuse for this blowout loss that might be it. The Nets should have had a bit more pride in the battle for New York City, but this game is a small bump in the road for Jason Kidd and his Nets squad who currently sit in the fifth spot in the playoff picture. Joe Johnson led the way for Brooklyn with 16 points.

The Knicks are trying to finish the season strong and consistent. With six games left on the schedule, New York is fighting for their playoff lives and they have a tough road ahead. The Knicks will take on the Washington Wizards tomorrow night and will face the Miami Heat on Sunday in a much anticipated match up in South Beach.
