To celebrate the release of his debut album Testimony, Jay Z’s Life+Times just released a new episode of DECODED featuring August Alsina.
On this episode, August breaks down the lyrics of his track “Make It Home” featuring Jeezy.
“The lyrics are so dear to me simply because it’s pretty much the life I live every day and it’s something that you, I, the next person can relate to ‘cause all we really tryna do is survive,” August explains in the video.
The New Orleans crooner discussed how unpredictable life can be while reflecting on his own hardships.
“You never know when it’s your time to go,” August said.
He returns to the death of his brother and then goes on to explain the underlining message of the song: “if something happens to me, I need my girl to do these things.”
