How many times have you been at your 9-5, hoping and wishing for something bigger? For New Orleans‘ rapper, Pell, this was his mindset as he worked at a Dollar Store in his hometown. This dream was also his inspiration behind his new single, aptly titled, Dollar Store.

Being raised in New Orleans’ 7th Ward by a mother  who was a professional opera singer and displaced in the 9th grade by Hurricane Katrina makes Pell’s words are that much more powerful. With production from Childish Gambino/Haim/Chance The Rapper-producer, Ludwig Goransson, Pell details his aspirations of becoming a full-on entertainer, from the eye of an everyday worker.

I’m excited to release Dollar Store because it’s a true showcase of what to expect on my upcoming project Floating While Dreaming,” says Pell, who is set to drop his debut LP later this Spring. “I aspire to relate to anyone who has had to go through a struggle to achieve true happiness. It’s a key to understanding how I assessed my struggles and conquered them by chasing my dreams. I hope everyone can enjoy and realize they’re getting to know the real me.”
