In a schoking turn of events, director Bryan Singer, known best for his work directing “The Usual Suspects” and many of the X-Men movies, including the upcoming summer release “X-Men: Days of Future ” is being sued for sexually abusing a teenage boy 15 years ago.  The suit claims that Singer forced the then 17 year old boy to exchange sexual favors with the director in exchange for a part in the X-Men movies, and that if he chose not to participate he would ruin the young mans future attempts at  a career.  The official complaint states

Singer “manipulated his power, wealth, and position in the entertainment industry to sexually abuse and exploit the underage Plaintiff through the use of drugs, alcohol, threats and inducements which resulted in Plaintiff suffering catastrophic psychological and emotional injuries,” the complaint alleged.

Singer “promised acting roles to Plaintiff in an X-Men movie, in commercials, and in other of his projects, and professed that he would arrange for Plaintiff to audition for roles and projects in others’ productions,” it alleged.

Now several factors make this case seem a little ‘fishy’.  For one the case is being filled in Hawaii, although the majority of the “abuse” took place in California; according to the victim’s attorney Jeff Herman the reason is because a new provision (which expires in two weeks) in Hawaiian law allows for old sex abuse case’s to be tried; the suit does allege that some of the incidents also took place in Hawaii.

Singer’s attorney had this to say regarding the entire matter

“We are very confident that Bryan will be vindicated in this absurd and defamatory lawsuit,” Singer’s rep said. “It is obvious that this case was filed in an attempt to get publicity at the time when Bryan’ s new movie is about to open in a few weeks.”

Stay tuned as well keep you posted with updates on the case.
