The Batman Beyond series follows high schooler Terry McGinnis in a futuristic take of Gotham City as he takes the reigns as Batman. Bruce Wayne, who’s elderly by the this time, mentors Terry, instilling him with his knowledge and values and acts as a patriarchal figure for him when is father is murdered early on in the series. Batman Beyond is the first comic book series in the Batman canon to be based on a television, running concurrently with each other from their inception in 1999.
Since the conclusion of the television show in 2001, the comic series has continued, and the Terry McGinnis Batman has made cameos in several animated television shows.
Today, as part of DC Comics ongoing 75th anniversary series (which has featured Batman before), they’ve released a new short adventure in the Batman Beyond universe at WonderCon. Will Friedle and Kevin Conroy reprise their roles as Terry McGinnis and Bruce Wayne respectively, as the duo take on a very interesting and familiar enemy.
