The NYPD exhibited in a very clear fashion today why even they need a social media specialist. As part of a Twitter campaign, centered around the hashtag #MyNYPD, NY’s police department invited Twitter users to upload pictures of them with New York police officers, presumably, to help show the good work “NY’s Finest” are doing around the city.
This plan backfired in ways we’re completely confident the NYPD didn’t see coming. Twitter users used the opportunity to upload scores of police officers being abusive, unprofessional and indifferent to brutality, among other things. We snatched some of the funniest, most absurd and downright shocking moments off of Twitter so you could have a gander…and a laugh.
