Lisa Left Eye Lopez-The Source Today, Her Source celebrates the legacy of Lisa Left Eye Lopes on the 12th anniversary of her premature death. She was born Lisa Nicole Lopez in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and relocated to Atlanta during the start of the her career. She knew that one day that she was going to be a star by any mean necessary.

She put the “c” in crazy, not in a bad way, but  as an innovator for women to be themselves without looking over-sexualized in the industry. She is definitely an example of what it means to be a woman that has been through a lot in her life and made it with a smile on her face.

When she dominated the 90’s, she was able to make history as her and her group mates became the first R&B group to grace the cover The Source Magazine and also inspired a new generation of female rappers, like Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea, and Azealia Banks.  She was one woman that was about her business, founding singing groups Blaque and Egypt.Being a fan of hers, we admire who she was as a person and  the fact that she spoke for those that couldn’t find their voice.

Remember her for the positive things that she have done for music and never the outrageous moments that she had. Before she died, she got in touch with her spiritual side that inspired her to write her famous lyric for the single, “Waterfalls”. She may be gone but definitely not forgotten.
