PONY is preparing to take over the sneaker world.
The sneaker collaborations this year have been insane- both rumored & released. Streetwear stores all over the world have teamed up with the most popular shoe brands to create one of kind, exclusive kicks that appeal to the masses. So naturally, with PONY releasing tons of kicks for the Spring & Summer, it’s only right that they are next to join forces with a store to produce kicks that stay true to their brand- and what better way to keep the Product Of New York in mind than to work with Harlem’s trendy boutique, ATMOS?
The two pair of kicks from “The New York State of Mind” collection are aptly named, with the green pair named after the “Statue of Liberty”, & the red pair inspired by the “Big Apple.” The purified upper on both pairs is made of premium soft suede, & finished off with a vulcanized rubber sole & custom tongues.
The New York brand also decided to take a trip down south to show some love to Atlanta’s most influential streetwear store, WISH. As we celebrate the Year of the Horse, of course PONY had to come up with a awesome design concept. Named the “Good Fortune” collection, PONY is quick to tell you that these specific pair of kicks are not for the “faint of foot.” Dressed in red & black pony hair, the Slam Dunk Hi is clearly the standout sneaker in their collection. See what WISH’s lead buyer, Frank Cooke, had to say:
“I wanted to come together on this project to show unity between small shops and boutiques! I respect and admire Paul’s (Atmos) work and what he brings to the footwear and apparel industry … with that being said, with this launch hopefully other small retailers will catch on to this same theory and we can do more projects like this together across the globe!
Paul of ATMOS also had something to add:
“At the end of the day, it’s not about competition, we all want to win so why not support one another. I have a ton of respect for Frank (Wish) and a lot people who do what we do on a daily basis. They motivate me to keep pushing”.
All three pairs will come in limited, wooden boxes, handcrafted by Brooklyn’s own Good Wood. ATMOS will also have clothing to coordinate with their collection.
