We spoke with the film’s producer Matthew Tolmach exclusively. Check out what he had to say about the second installment.

What can fans expect from “The Amazing Spiderman 2”?

We can expect something really spectacular, it’s a bigger movie, we told the most iconic story in the Peter / Gwen cannon, a story that I think a lot of people didn’t think we had the nerve or the heart to tell, and we went for it. And I’m really proud of that.

Tell us about collaborating with director Marc Webb again?

He’s like my little brother, I love him, I trust him, his ability to capture emotion and character is so brilliant and uncanny, I’m in awe watching him.

Tell us about bringing Jamie Foxx on board. What your decision making process behind casting Electro?

It was honestly the easiest. We pretty much wrote it for him, because we knew the character of Max who becomes Electro literally goes from being this combover, awkward, vulnerable guy to enormously this loud character. Jamie, we’ve seen him do that in a way that vert very few people can. We just love him, we’re fans, and it was the only call we made. His daughter is a huge “Spiderman” fan so the minute we said it, he was in.

Tell us about Jamie Foxx’s costume?

One of the things, you are confronted with in these movies are the costumes in the book, from the comics, and this is a movie, and do you want to replicate that? The Electro costume is a very specific costume in the comics, and we didn’t think that looked right. We also wanted the costumes to have some basis in story, and what you’ll when you see the movie, there’s a reason why he wears that costume. There’s an actual story reason why he ends up in that, so we wanted to honor that, too.

Tell us about Hans Zimmer, Alicia Keys, Pharrell and Kendrick getting together for the film’s song?

Hans had done a lot of work with Sony, and obviously we all think he is the most brilliant composer walking. So it was a dream when we heard he was interested in doing the score for our movie, and he had this idea putting together this incredible dream team and it’s this perfect balance between classical and modern and totally unique, it was amazing. It’s another character in the movie when you hear that.
