Neon Hitch has collaborated with Travie McCoy and Tyga in addition to being a talented songwriter and solo artist. She is featured on the new Kinetics & One Love track “Time Machine.” Kinetics and One Love are probably best known for writing “Airplanes” for B.o.B. “‘Time Machine’ is about two lovers at the right place at the wrong time. Two people who want to be together but can’t because of present circumstances … maybe one is taken already. If they met a few years later or earlier, something could have happened between them, so the whole song is a dream-like romance they would share if they had a time machine. The raps reference Nikola Tesla, who was a thinker way too ahead of his time, to illustrate this idea of being at the right place at the wrong time. Tesla is also a character in The Prestige, another reason we modeled the video after that movie,” Kinetics told us exclusively.

kinetics_and_one_love_youarenotalone_warner_hiphop_nyc_8He also shared the inspiration for the video saying, “The music video references the aesthetic of the movie The Prestige, directed by my favorite director Christopher Nolan, who also did MementoInception and the Dark Knight trilogy. The time period of The Prestige is the 1890s, so we used that feel for the video – appropriate for a collaboration with Neon Hitch, whose music often has a vintage vibe and references icons from past decades like Marilyn Monroe or Bonnie & Clyde.”

“Always love working with Neon. She’s a crazy gypsy, down for whatever, walking in the studio with her head wrapped in a tablecloth, holding a bottle of Jameson ready to drink at noon. We’ve done a lot of work together – we produced and co-wrote her whole last mixtape 301 to Paradise and have done a bunch of shows together, including a three-day trip to perform in Malaysia. The three of us have gotten pretty close and that chemistry carries over into the songwriting,” Kinetics said of the collaboration.
