Last month, it was reported that about 234 girls between the ages of 16-18 were kidnapped from Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Nigeria. According to various media sources, the girls are being forced into the religion of Islam and marriage with Boko Haram members, with an alleged “bride price” of 2,000 Nigerian “Naira” or $12.50.

There has been an international outcry to go into Nigeria to find the girls, with the United States and the UK leading the call.

Below is a video from the international syndicated news publication BBC that was released by the group, in which the leader Abubakar Shekau said that all of the girls would be freed when all of its imprisoned members were freed. Three girls are speaking in the video, where two of them say that they have converted to Islam and they have not been harmed by the Al-Qaeda affliates.

To the left, the entire Boko Haram kidnapping has been viewed with much skepticism, with some even accusing the entire mission to be a covert CIA operation to invoke distrust in African nations and the religion of Islam.
