Ever so often you come across something funky, sweet and draws your attention immediately. Not it’s not food, but it’s not a smell either. In this case we’re taking our talents to Williamsburg, Brooklyn for Kara Walker’s “A Subtlety”exhibit. Far from your regular, let’s just stand around, the preview night of the exhibit brought out everyone. From Solange Knowles to Lyor Cohen were there to celebrate while dancing to the sounds of DJ Afrika Bambaataa!
Not only was the event great but the exhibit itself was rather interesting. Imagine The Sphinx made of sugar; that’s exactly what it is, but with a twist. Creator Kara Walker pays homage to the men and women who worked the sugar cane fields. It also features molasses made sculptures with boys carrying baskets. Make sure you make your way there.
