Derrick Rose raised a lot of eyebrows when he said that he wouldn’t help recruit Carmelo Anthony because it’s not his job.  The comment didn’t mean Rose didn’t want Anthony on the Bulls, he just has an old school mentally.  Rose in fact would very much welcome Anthony on the team and even worked out to prove to Melo he was healthy.

While at the United Center, sources say that Rose went through a private workout to show Anthony that he’s healthy and ready to compete at a high level next season.

Rose suffered two major knee injuries over the past two seasons and there’s been questions about his health and if he is ready to play.  The Bulls are trying to form a Big 3 of their own with Rose, Joakim Noah and Anthony but before Carmelo makes a decision he needed to make sure Rose is good to go.  In addition to the workout, Rose spoke to Anthony for 20 minutes inside the Bulls’ locker room.  He did not attend the dinner they had later but those few actions were a big step for him as his quiet and old fashioned persona would rather avoid such interactions.
