Andrew Rector was caught napping during the Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees game.  It was broadcasted on national TV and of course went viral.  Well now Rector is suing ESPN and MLB for $10 million for defamation.

As the cameras focused on Rector, ESPN announcers Dan Shulman and John Kruk made jokes about the situation.

Rector’s lawsuit cites the comments by the broadcasters and MLB’s distribution of the video as part of an “unending verbal crusade.” The Smoking Gun posted the lawsuit, which includes Rector’s main argument:

“Announcers like Dan Shulman and John Kruck [sic] unleashed avalanche of disparaging words against the person of and concerning the plaintiff. These words, include but not limited to ‘stupor, fatty, unintelligent, stupid’ knowing and intending the same to be heard and listened to by millions of people all over the world.”

He also refers to comments made by people online as pictures and footage of him circled the Internet.
