On Wednesday afternoon, Febreze teamed up with Jane Lynch and Funny or Die to showcase their new campaign for “noseblindness”. Taking place at Center 548, the entire venue was furnished with dirty kitchen and locker room setups to imitate a house with a profusion of odors to demo Febreze’s odor eliminating technology. The event consisted of a screening of the mock-style PSA commercial followed by a presentation hosted by Jane in raising awareness to the issue of noseblindness. To help explain, professionals were invited to speak on this condition which is “the gradual acclimation to the smells of one’s home, car , or belongings, in which the affected does not notice them (even though their guests do)”, and how it can negatively affect not only your physical condition, but more importantly, interaction in your social life. In addition, Febreze has launched “Noseblind.com” in order to promote their products, complete with a entire Noseblind 101 including the symptoms, science, definition, and science behind it which is available now!

We had the chance to talk to Jane following the event about her enthusiasm for smells (good smells that is) and her upcoming plans.

What convinced you to do this collaboration with Febreze and Funny or Die?

Jane: Well I’m a real smell person. I love odors, well not odors haha, but I love smell and I’m actually a big fanatic of Febreze, I have it all over my house and they approached me with this funny idea to do this PSA which I thought was a great idea, so I was all for it. Noseblind.com for everyone to go see it!

Congratulations on going into the fifth year of “Glee,” what are your expectations and anticipations for the new season?

Jane: I don’t know what’s going to happen, so it’s always exciting to find out what that will be. I haven’t heard any rumors, but I know we’re going to start in August or September, and then we’ll do 12 more, and then we’ll end the series! I don’t have anything to tease, unfortunately, I don’t know what we’re doing but I’m excited and it’s bittersweet and it’s been a great run.

What do you love about the medium of comedy as an actress?

Well you know, it fits really well for me. I love finding the funny (what I call it), which is why I loved doing this PSA for noseblindness. I like finding the humor in anything and I’ve always been like this so it’s just been a great coming together for me. Finding a business in comedy is just kind of a good natural fit for me.

Aside from working, what are you looking forward to in your free time?

Well I’m going to Santa Barbara with my family for a couple of weeks, we’re starting the vacation on Saturday. I haven’t taken a vacation like that with my family, well maybe other than the time I went to Florida in 1972 haha! I went on vacation with my sister and brother and, of course, now they have kids so I’m looking forward to that, and then I’ll go back to Glee right after!
