Lil Durk luckily avoided doing some time behind bars in court today after he pleaded guilty to gun charges. According to the Chicago Tribune the prosecution recommended Durk receive at least one year behind bars for gun possession, however Judge Joseph Kazmierski, Jr. decided to give the Chicago rapper 18 months probation and took into consideration the 43 days he already spent in jail.

The judge encouraged Durk to reflect on his actions and be “part of the cure of what’s going on” among the city’s violence. Durk heard him loud and clear, let’s just hope he keeps his word.
