A woman was killed Friday afternoon, after being hit by a taxi SUV as she attempted to cross a Manhattan street, according to police.
The taxi flipped over and landed on her as she crossed the street on 79th Street near Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side around 2 p.m.
Witnesses said the taxi driver was trying to make a turn before the light turned red.
“The taxi driver was driving very fast,” said a 39-year-old witness. “He passed over her. He ran her over. I saw her moving a little bit.”
Moreover, the 58-year-old woman was pulled from under the SUV due to construction workers, doormen, and maintenance workers that were all nearby, but unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at Lenox Hill Hospital.
As for the 30-year old driver, he was uninjured.
