Atlanta x Toronto connection
August was a whirlwind month for 25-year old Atlanta upstart iLOVEMAKONNEN, and his future appears to be brighter than ever now that he’s finalizing his record deal with Drake‘s OVO Sound/Warner Bros. label. After hopping on the remix to Makonnen’s still-growing “Tuesday” record–the song has since become popular nationwide–Drake took it a step further and inked Makonnen to his OVO Sound label, making him the second rapper to sign on OVO’s dotted line (Drake’s Toronto brethren OB O’Brien was the first).
In an interview with Hot 97’s Miss Info, iLOVEMAKONNEN provides everyone with an interesting narrative, including the crazy aftermath of Drake surprising everyone with his “Tuesday” remix, and what’s next after having already carved out his mark in Atlanta with their biggest producers (Mike Will Made It, Metro Boomin, Sonny Digital).
