R&B stars venturing into rap isn’t a new thing. Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Omarion, Lloyd, and whole hosts of other people have decided to pick up the mic and do something other than sing. Still, we’d be lying if we said we saw it coming from Musiq Soulchild. He has reinvented himself, and now goes by The Husel.

The soul/R&B aficionado, responsible for classic, timeless hits like “Halfcrazy”, “Love”, “B.U.D.D.Y.” and more, has taken his talents to rap in a very serious way. He’s released a “self-titled” mixtape today, The Husel, which you can listen to here. He’s getting thrashed on Twitter, but before we pass judgments, take a listen to the project and let us know what you think. Will Musiq’s 12th Grammy nomination come in the rap section or should he not even bother?
